Hello my lovelies!
My name is Georgie Barrat and I’m a studious student at Kings. When I leave uni I would love to enter into the crazy ol’ world of journalism and currently spend my extra time beavering away for the student radio, newspaper and blog.
So far I aint been promoted. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to seize this opportunity and take my blog busting talents to new corners of the world...let me sail the seven seas and report back what a fabulous time I’m having...
It’s a hard knock life for some!
My Ideal Destination: My ideal travel destination would have to have the perfect blend of what I call the ‘familiar factor’ and the ‘unknown factor’. What I mean by the ‘familiar factor’ are the aspects of travelling which I am already used to, such as going out, partying, meeting new people, swimming, sunbathing, relaxing. As the ‘unknown factor’ involves you immersing yourself in a new culture, food, experience, sight. I think if you are not careful you stick to the ‘familiar’ category more as it is something safe and guarantees a good time. The ‘unknown factor’ has a habit of being a bit more stretching, however it takes you to the true pearls of travelling which make you grow as a person and, I guess, is the essence of travelling. But BALANCE is the key, think of the ‘familiar factor’ as the bread and butter of travelling – keeps you going and reminds you of your good ol’ home comforts – as the ‘unknown factor’ is the juicy filling – nourishing, sweet and full of flavour. Mmmm the perfect travelling sandwich.
As for what actually embodies this sandwich I would say my next trip in the pipeline will be to the diverse, beautiful and heady sights of India. Defiantly got a high proportion of the ‘unknown factor’ in that country, but I would love to take it on!
